The new Lego Sydney Opera House is a mahoossive 2,989-brick set that measures 11-inch high, 25-inch wide and 15-inch deep. Comparing it to its Lego Architecture counterpart is like comparing Jupiter to Earth. Naturally, the price is of Jovian proportions too: $320.
It's an truly amazing model, with lots of complex shapes and details, that captures the essence of the iconic 1973 Australian building, designed and built by Danish architect J?rn Utzon.
For fans of architectural Lego models, however, I'm sure it will be irresistible. And for general Lego nutters too: it contains very prized and rare dark tan bricks, some awesome white 1x1x2/3 stud and 1x2x2/3 stud slopes (perfect for spaceships!) plus the unique 48x48 stud blue baseplate, the first of its kind.
Of all the Lego Creator Expert models?the Taj Mahal, Eiffel Tower and London's Tower Bridge?it's my second favorite (the first one being the Tower Bridge). The 10234 Sydney Opera House will be available this September at the Lego Shop and other Lego stores.
One of the rare slopes.
Update: Indeed, the model is built in different parts that then assemble together, as this video shows. Looking at it next to a human also shows how big it is:
